I have been called a "careful curator" by those who know me best, which is a kind and funny way of describing a picky and opinionated consumer. I love beautiful, practical, and carefully-designed things, I am wary of advertisers' claims, and I love supporting companies committed to the health of the earth.

I'm a little compulsive about researching any purchase. If I can't find good research, I do my own, which was part of the inspiration for this blog. The other part is that being an educator for 25 years and a mom for 16 has taught me that parents and families have to make a million huge and tiny decisions every single day. This can be incredibly overwhelming.

Sometimes I overthink things. The happy side of this trait is that I consider lots of angles that others overlook. When I arrive at a decision, I'm confident that it's a good one for me, and if any of the information I dig up can help you make good decisions for yourself, your family, or your children, then the more, the merrier.
